Step 3: Complete the Hockey Canada Officiating Program - Introduction to Officiating Module - Online/Self-Paced
Hockey Canada has a robust first-year course that every hockey official in Canada is required to complete in their first season (regardless of age). You MUST complete this before becoming a registered official. There is an English course and a French course available. You CANNOT switch your language once your course brings, so please select the appropriate one.

You must finish your modules BEFORE your in-person clinic.

Step 5: Attend Your Clinic and Complete Your Exam
On the date/time of your clinic, please make sure you are on time for the start of clinic. A good habit for any officials is to arrive 10 minutes early and be ready to go at puck drop (the start of the clinic). Please make sure you bring with a pen and paper. Also, please read your clinic description as you may need to bring along skates, a helmet and a whistle for any clinics that have on-ice sections. Wear comfortable clothes!
As part of the clinic you will complete your certification exam. Everything for this exam is learned in the online modules (Step 3) and throughout the clinic session.
Step 6: Submit Any Necessary Information To Your RIC/Make Sure They Have Your Contact Information
Every association has an Association Level RIC. If you are unsure of your local contact, please speak with your local association. You may need to submit your CRC/VSC (if 18 or older or turning 18 during the season) and any other contact information they require.
Step 7: Make Sure You Have A NBHOA Goalline Account
We communicate through Goalline emails and our website. NBHOA Goalline account will be created for you based on the email you list on your registration form.
